21Nov2003 King Abdullah awards prize to Dr Abdullah Al- Turki

Amman, 21st November 2003

At an official ceremony on Thursday evening, King Abdullah II of Jordan awarded the King Abdullah International Prize for Ulema and Muslim Callers to Dr Abdullah Al-Turki, Secretary General of the Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL).

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Al-Turki stressed the important role played by Ulema (religious scholars) in clarifying the principles of Islam. He urged Muslim solidarity and cooperation to confront current challenges.

The function was attended by a number of Jordanian princes and senior officials.
